What is Makahiki?

Makahiki season, a traditional Hawaiian celebration, marks a time of peace, festivity, and honoring the land. It's a period when warfare was forbidden and people engaged in games, feasts, and religious rituals. Our championship brings this ancient tradition to life, blending sports, culture, and education in a unique and exciting way.


Championship Highlights

Traditional Games: Witness and participate in traditional Hawaiian games like `ulu maika (bowling), `o`o ihe (spear throwing), and hukihuki (tug-of-war).

Hawaiian games play an important role in supporting the HIDOE's "HA: Nā Hopena A’o" framework by promoting values essential for total student development!
